Trump Tariffs News | “Tariff Call Centers”: US Influencers Target India Over Visas, Immigration

There’s been a surge in anti-India hate on US social media with some white influencers targeting Indians and sparking widespread outrage. One notable incident involves American influencer Charles Haywood who claimed Indians have achieved nothing of note in the modern era, sparking immediate backlash. Users highlighted numerous contributions of Indians in technology, science, literature, and business, showcasing the diversity of Indian achievements. Here’s a report. American right-wing influencers have launched an all-out tirade against India, targeting everything from visas to tariffs. Donald Trump’s ally Charlie Kirk took to X this week, singling out Indians as supposedly displacing American workers. His words, “America does not need more visas for people from India. Perhaps no form of legal immigration has displaced American workers as those from India. Enough already. US India trade deal would require paying India in visas. She went so far as to taunt Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting to try his luck with China’s Xi Jinping instead. (Trump Tariffs News)

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed

India “kills” the U.S. with tariffs and the country has now offered “no tariffs”, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed  New Delhi’s escalating tensions with Washington over trade and tariffs.
The U.S. President said he understands tariffs “better” than anybody. “I understood tariffs better than any human being in the world. And now with my tariffs, they were all dropping them. India was the most highly tariffed nation… And you know what, they’ve offered me no tariffs in India anymore. No tariffs,” he said.

But critics are pointing out the hypocrisy. These comments came just days after US President Donald Trump bent over backwards to welcome 600,000 Chinese students into American universities. While his administration simultaneously revoked thousands of student visas for Indians and double tariffs on Indian goods to a crushing 50%, the highest in the world. By comparison, Chinese imports face only 30% duties. (Trump Tariffs News)

Adding to the pylon, farright commentator Jack Poso demanded a 100% tariff on all foreign coal centers and remote workers. Another thinly veiled jab at India. But Indian-American voices are pushing back. Education policy analyst Nija Desh Pande slammed the blatant racism in posts targeting Indians reminding that no visa category is reserved only for India. Journalist said conservatives were attacking Indians not for laziness but for outperforming Americans. Others emphasize that Indians make up 75% of the H1B visa holders, driving innovation at Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, while over 200,000 Indian students pump billions into US universities and local economies.

lawmakers are warning against Trump’s missteps

Indian-American Congressman Ro Kana accused Trump of undermining 30 years of bipartisan work through crippling 25% tariffs and an additional 25% levy on India’s purchase of Russian oil.
We can’t allow the ego of Donald Trump to destroy a strategic relationship with India that is key to ensuring that America leads and not China.
Indian origin experts like Dr. Aishari dismissed claims that India is drifting into China and Russia’s orbit calling it exaggerated while Indu Vishwanathan exposed how American right-wing racists find strange allies among fringe voices in India to pedal anti-India bigotry. (Trump Tariffs News)

Russian President Vladimir Putin

“From an international law point of view, everyone must have equal rights, and must be in a similar position,” Putin declared, stressing the need for balance in international relations.

He noted that large countries like India and China have unique political systems and domestic laws, warning that attempts to “punish” them place their leaders in a difficult bind. “If one of them shows weakness, his political career will be over,” Putin said.

Speaking of history, he reminded the West of its colonial past. “Countries have had difficult periods in their history, such as colonialism, attacks on sovereignty for prolonged periods of time. Now that the colonial era is over, they have to realize that they cannot use this tone in speaking with their partners,” he said.

Powerful American Senator and Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) has accused President Donald Trump of weakening America’s global standing and driving India toward closer ties with Russia and China through his tariff policies.

At the end of the day, one fact is clear. Behind the rhetoric of America first, these influencers are peddling half truths and double standards, bashing India even as the US continues to rely heavily on Indian talent, Indian students and Indian trade. (Trump Tariffs News)
